As the seniors come back to their last year of their high school years, they want to see their friends, they want to have fun, but the last thing they want is to get slammed with an on demand writing test.

Seniors are preparing for this test in all of their English classes. Senior Joe Mann says that in his English class they are writing essays to better prepare for the senior test. “Personally, I think that it is going to be a helpful skill in the long run, but will not help us get into college, or help our scores,” answers Mann. “I see how it could be used, but, it’s not going to be fun” says senior Eric Paycheck.

“There is no need to study for this test; you just need to know techniques to do well,” says Danville High School principal Win Smith. Smith also adds that students can better prepare for this test by realizing it is a measurement of their ability and their teacher’s teaching ability. Smith hopes that the students will do their best and that the students realize that this test is only to show what they can do.

The seniors are provided with writing prompts and are to respond to the question states Smith. The date for the senior test is unknown but Danville High schools guidance counselor David McAfee says “the test is planned sometime around September 17-28.” Danville High School will set the date based on what the teachers feel. “This test is just to show where were at as a school, but to do this we need exact measurements and to get exact measurements we need a good faith and best effort out of all of our students.”
