Combine Head Automatica with an extreme horse tranquilizer, add softer and definitely simpler melodies and lyrics and you have the new Hellogoodbye album, Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! With the headlining tracks Here (In Your Arms) and All of Your Love, the Hellogoodbye fan club is steadily increasing. Although both of these singles released from the album have been well received by the public, if you are looking for anything other than elementary lyrics and tales of love and turmoil, this is not the album for you.

The techno funky beats and sounds of the songs on the Hellogoodbye cd are anything but ignorable. They will have you bobbing your head along in time without even realizing what it is you’re listening to. The aptly titled Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! suits the album, even though the content has nothing to do with any of these monsters. The album itself is mainly about love, heartache, and relationships, with the exceptions of the songs….wait! There are no exceptions. Each and every one of the songs is about staying together, making it work, or how much I love you and love spending time with you. For example, the song Stuck to You: “ Oh girl it’s true: I can never be away from you/ It’s like you gloss your lips with glue/ oh we kiss and I am stuck to you.”

Even though I have bashed the album itself, saying that it is elementary in lyrics and its subject matter, the way the band blends technology and real instruments is reassuring in the fact that maybe they are capable of doing bigger and better things.
