Westbrook ended the year 18-11 overall and 8-7 in district. The bruins placed third in a tough 22-5A district. The team opened off its first playoff series against Houston Memorial, in what turned out to be an outstanding series according to players.

In game one West Brook traveled to Houston with Junior Brandon Castolenia pitching. Sophomore John Falgout added help at the plate by hitting two doubles and Junior Jay Bruce added with a solo home run. The Bruins came out on top 8-5.

In game two of the series the teams played here at West Brook, and had trouble hitting the ball. They had one hit and scored two runs off an error. But due to two errors of their own Memorial came back during the final inning and hit a home run off of Junior Brady Behrens. Before Memorial’s three run rally, Behrens pitched 6 shutout innings.

The Bruins traveled back to Houston for game three of the series with Castolenia pitching a one hitter for West

Brook and Kolby Clemons, Roger Clemons’ son, pitched for Memorial. John Michael Falgout hit a two run shot way over the wall.

Jay Bruce also hit a two run shot to aid the Bruins in destroying Memorial with a final score of 8-1.

With the series victory the Bruins will advance to the area round of playoffs where they will go to battle against Clear Creek.
