Once the 2005-‘06 football season came to an end after the 14-0 lost to Pensacola Pace School, it has been more than just letting back and relaxing for senior football players. More so ‘CRUNCH TIME’ (preparing for signing-day), having some of the top universities and colleges calling their homes, contacting coaches to let the players know they’re interested.

“I get 1,000 letters, received two phone calls a day,” said senior and team captain Seddrick Holloway.

When preparing seniors for scouts to come and recruit, head coach Kyle Rice and coaching staffs make highlight tapes for all the seniors.

“Sending out and providing any information that any of the colleges may need on a player,” said Rice.

“There’s nothing you can do when getting prepared, just do everything before game days and good charisma when talking to scouts,” says Holloway. Scouts had been coming in and out to come and show some interest to the senior players. The junior football players are showing great interest in the recruiting process and are getting advice from their seniors, their “big brothers”.

“We look up to them, they are like our big brothers. We have learned a lot from them,” said Brandon Paul.

Junior players Justin Footman, Dashaun Barnes, Mike Slade and Ricky McGee have already received letters of interest.

“Kansas State, in general has made me seriously look at my education,” said senior Terry Thompson on considerin Kansas State.

Though Thompson has been playing the game long before high school, when on the field at times he still gets nervous before games. He also looks at the younger players as family.

“They remind me of myself, when I was at their level just getting started. Like when the younger players started getting letters last year, I got excited for them,” said Thompson.

While some seniors tried to figure out which college to attend, others already made up their decisions. Antwuan Moore had committed to Florida A&M University before the holidays.

According to Tallahassee Democrat, Moore will continue playing football during the fall and track in the spring.

On Signing Day February 1, 2006, senior players ventured out to different colleges by signing some paper. But they will still have the Trojan running thick in their bloodlines.
