At-a-glance

Welcome back, groovy cats! Here we are, at the start of another fun-filled, fantabulous school year, and fashion is reigning queen here at LHS. This season opens with a surreal, fairytale-esque look: plenty of dark jewel tones like purple and emerald, puff sleeve blazers, and whimsical patterns like unicorns and skulls. The summer brought back the fabulousness of the 80’s look, which can be seen in bright rainbow colors on totes, tees and of course on shoes. Skinny jeans have kept their popularity, and why not? Us short folks don’t have to hem them, and they can look groovy under sweet lil’ dresses, and not to mention flattering on most people. Flats are still very common, too – they are ubercute and great for those who don’t have time to tie shoe laces in the morning, and they can be dressed up or down according to your own personal style. Backpacks seem to be nearing the end of their life in the fashion world – the chic chick would rather rock a funky and artistic tote bag than a rucksack. An eccentric yet adorable look that has been revived and revamped is the mod look: no longer black and white op-art, it is all about crazy go-go dresses and jumpers in bold colors and funky patterns. Styles 4 Less usually has a great selection of those looks, but the craftier girl knows that thrift shops are a dream come true. Where else can you get real vintage looksfor affordable prices? Junior Mildred Hadoyle has a personal favorite: “I really like shopping at Second Time Around … it supports a great cause and has some amazing prices! Not to mention you can find almost anything you’re looking for.” And whatever look you are currently rocking (even if it’s just a mish-mash or everything you love … like what I wear), there is bound to be a store in lovely old Lompoc that will support your fashion fantasies this fall.
