Mandatory IDs and a stricter dress code is taking over Alta Vista! IDs hung on a lanyard must be worn at all times around students’ necks on campus. And the AVHS administration is cracking down on dress code violators. Let’s see what the students have to say about all of this…

Linda Romero, sophomore

“I don't like that they don't let us wear jeans and a blue shirt. Sometimes you want to wear a blue shirt with different color accessories and they still make you change even though you’re not wearing all blue. For example, my friend had on a blue shirt with black accessories and they made her change.”

John Rodriguez, junior

“I think the whole ‘blue-on-blue’ is whack! It doesn't always mean it’s a gang affiliation. People shouldn't judge due to the colors you wear. I was barely walking in school and I got told to go to the office for wearing blue on blue even though it wasn't a solid blue shirt.”

Adriana Valenzuela, senior

“Yo pienso que tener que usar las credenciales todo el tiempo, se me hace como muy tonto porque es muy chiquita la escuela para que no sepan quien es quien.”(“I think that the idea of having to wear your ID at all times is kind of dumb because the school is too small for people not to know who's who.”)

Lamontrez Lewis, freshman

“I don't mind wearing IDs because that way teachers can identify you by your name. I think the blue on blue is retarded because some people wear blue on blue not because they are gangsters, but because they like the color.”
