Once again, Central basketball players have proven that they have talent on the court.

Danielle Bennet, Pazsley Currie-Looney, and Johnny Gray were all recently honored by All District or All State team rankings.

Bennet was picked for All District first team and Currey-Looney received All District second team. Players must be nominated by any coach in their district to be eligible. Once the players are nominated, the coaches vote on the nominees.

“It’s a prestigious honor because it’s the coaches that vote and not the players or students,” said Dan Stander, Central girls basketball coach.

Bennet won the All State first team award as well. In order to win the All State award, players had be awarded All District honors first.

Coaches across Missouri vote on the hundreds of players that were All District winners to determine who gets the All State awards.

“Among hundreds, she is known as one of the best of the state,” said Stander on Bennet receiving the All State award.

“It was a great honor and it’s the first [state winner] I’ve ever coached,” Stander said.
