With numerous games already finished the women’s tennis team is looking better and better with every game. The only draw back to this year’s season may be the lack of enjoyable weather and the extravagant number of girls being sick.

“I’m just getting tired of the rain, we need some nice sunshine,” said head coach Tom Beatty. “We’ve been very competitive it’s just been tough with girls being sick.”

So far the tennis team has played 10 games and have put up a decent showing going 4-6.

“Our team has played pretty well, the season’s had its ups and downs,” said sophomore Lauren Krueger.

Sophomore doubles player Liza Gray concurred saying, “The season’s been going good, even with some upsetting losses.”

When asked about current players Beatty responded saying, “Abbey Koch has played number one singles all year and she has done very well at it. It’s a tough position because you’re playing other schools’ number one playesr. Number two for us this season is Lauren Krueger who has also done very well for us this season.”

When asked about any surprise players Beatty responded, “Anna Sky has been a big surprise. She’s played great for us this season.”

When told about Beatty’s praise, Krueger, a sophomore responded by saying, “I always practice and give it my all. My consistency has improved from the start of the season.”

For the rest of the season Krueger said, “I just hope we finish with more confidence.”

The upcoming matches for the women’s tennis team will be big ones as the district matches begin May 2-5. “We have some big matchups coming up, and I think we’ll do pretty well,” said Gray, adding, “Overall our team should finish well, hopefully second.”

Even though the women’s tennis team may have had a slow start the team seems to be coming together and should make a push for a high placing at the district match.
