Finally it’s over, well almost. Summer is almost here to bring some much needed down time to us school-weary students. This summer, just as all the summer before, should be filled with jobs, hours upon hours of vegetating on the couch, and possibly a week stay at your family’s vacation spot of choice.

With summer almost here, the anticipation for long awaited adventures and activities is the top priority on student’s minds.

Junior Matt Nunley says the think he is looking forward to most is “leisure time, all the time.” Although he may not have special plans for the summer, Nunley admits that “big plans take the boredom and mediocrity out of summer, which is why I enjoy it.”

Many students seem to share Nunley’s philosophy of just hanging out and shooting the breeze over summer. However, some students, such as senior Kaitlin Kirk, have bigger plans for the summer. Kirk, along with seniors Kendra Tullius, Tara Dickinson, and Elizabeth Halsey are planning on taking a trip to Texas.

“I am so excited about going to Texas with my friends. We hope to stay at Kendra’s rich cousin’s house. We’ll make it the best senior trip ever,” expresses Kirk

Comparing what students think this summer will be like compared to the last one, many students believe that it will be better than the last.

Senior Ryan Rudolph says that this summer will be “better because I’m 18!”

Other students such as sophomore Shiloh West say, “This summer will be better because I will have a job and more money so I can buy more things. Also, I will have my driver’s license.”

Looking back on the year, students have had a variety of activities that they enjoyed doing. Some said that their favorite part of the school year was decorating for prom. Others say the prom itself was the best part of their school year. Still, others said ski trips were the best part of their year. The list goes on and on. But no matter how many good memories this year has brought, it is safe to say that summer’s arrival is more than welcome. Hearing the last bell of the year is a sound that all students are eagerly awaiting. So, prepare to pop in your parent’s (or your own) Alice Cooper CD because “school’s out for summer!”
