The laws for teenage drivers in Ohio keep getting worse. This past April the Ohio Government passed a few new laws for young drivers. Teens under the age of 17 that have a license will be allowed to drive with only one person who is not a family member. The only way that these teens will be allowed to have more than one person, would be if they were driving with a licensed adult or parent.

John Glenn sophomore Max Funk believes that “the worst part of the new laws is only being allowed to drive with one friend at a time.”

License holders that are between the ages of 17 and 18 will not be allowed to drive between the hours of one o’clock and five o’clock in the morning. Again they will only be able to drive between these hours if they are driving with and adult. Drivers under the age of 17 will not be allowed to drive between the hours of midnight and six o’clock in the morning. Sophomore Devin Fitzgerald said, “This really doesn’t effect me because I am never out during these hours.” There are also some new laws for kids with there permits. They, too, will not be allowed to drive between the hours of midnight and six o’clock in the morning.

Finally, one of the last laws that were passed was that if a license holder is guilty of a moving violation within the first six months of having a license, they will then have to ride with a parent or guardian. They will have to ride with their parent during the remainder of that six month period or until they turn 17, which ever comes first. "I have had my license for six months, so this law won't effect me any" said sophomore Travis Scott.
