The girls’ varsity basketball team currently has a record of 11-10 with only two games left in their regular season.

“We played our best game of the season against Boulder Creek (Jan. 10), winning 57-43,” said head coach Justin McLain. “We played our most solid four quarters and played well as a team.”

After the Boulder Creek game the Lady Eagles traveled to rival Mountain Ridge Jan. 13, losing 47-26.

“We were just too anxious,” McLain said. “We played our worst half of the year all because we went into the game wanting it too much. On a plus side we did out score Ridge 17-8 in the fourth quarter so if we play again we should keep up with them.”

The Lady Eagles hosted North Canyon Jan. 17, losing 57-54.

“It was a real tough loss because it was such a close game,” said senior Jill Henderson. “Things turned around against us at the half and we just couldn’t hold on to win. But we will fix our mistakes and beat them next time.”

OHS took on Trevor Browne Jan. 20, losing a tough one 60-55, letting a 10-point lead slip away with three minutes to go.

The Lady Eagles lost to Kingman 51-47 Jan. 24 and bounced back with a victory against Barry Goldwater Jan. 26, 49-37.

“The two games before Goldwater were real tough to deal with,” McLain said. “They were real close and went to the last minute. If we played again I know we would definitely beat them.”

The Lady Eagles played Boulder Creek and Deer Valley earlier in the week and Mountain Ridge tonight. Results were unavailable at press time.

“All we need to do is play like a team and work together and we will go deep into the playoffs,” McLain said.
