As teachers further themselves into their careers, they find that the more education they have, the more benefits they can receive.

Some teachers have chosen the route of online classes, while others decide to return to school and temporarily leave their teaching positions.

This is what Anne Elliot, who previously taught psychology at OHS, chose to do this year.

A teacher was not hired to teach psycology and sociology in time for the start of the school year, so Karen Weingartner filled in as a long-term substitute to prepare the students of this year’s psychology and sociology courses.

Elizabeth Bloom was then hired in October and began to take charge psychology and sociology classes.

Previously, Bloom instructed at Mountain Sky Junior High in Phoenix. There, she taught social studies. Bloom has four years of experience in the public education field and feels that she will be well- fit for her new course.

“My teaching style will motivate students and keep them actively engaged in the O’Connor High School experience,” Bloom said.
