With the release of the new Sony Playstation Portable, handheld gaming is once again the rage. At a small size of 6.7 X 2.9 inches, the PSP has capabilities not only to play video games but also listen to music, watch movies, and go on the Internet. Owners are left with an all-new gaming experience.
“I wasn’t really interested in handheld gaming,” junior Jeff Miller said, “but I heard so much talk about the PSP I decided to look into it. Turns out it was more than just a simple reincarnation of a Gameboy.”
The cost for a PSP is $250 which may seem expensive, but Miller went on to say that its “graphics nearly paralleled that of [the Playstation 2].”
Using the PSP, you can listen to music in MP3 format and store it on memory cards which range in size from 32 megabytes to 2 gigabytes. Another feature of the PSP is the ability to watch movies. It does not play DVDs but rather special movie cartridges designed primarily for the PSP. Miller said you could also load movies onto it from your computer using a USB cable.
Another positive aspect that the PSP offers is it’s sleek, hip design. The PSP fits perfectly into your hands and has a very nuevo look to that will leave anyone who doesn’t have it wanting one. Compared to the Nintendo DS, it has a superior appearance.
“[The PSP] can do a lot,” Micro Center employee Teddy Meyer said. “A music player, a game player, and movies all in a slim, very nice looking piece of machinery.”
Despite its cost, the PSP is an incredible new way to play video games along with the other features. and has made strides in the video game world. It gives the customer many different options all while standing alone as the best handheld video game player that is in available in stores today.
