After a successful postseason, the Hoban girls basketball team was defeated by Copley 43-36 in the OHSSA district semifinal game. The March 2 loss at Lake High School in Uniontown eliminated the Knights from the Division II playoffs.

Junior Tenishia Benson led the Hoban offense with 14 points. But Hoban's efforts were not enough to hold off Copley senior Carrie Dyer and freshman Beth Mantkowski. Dyer finished the game with 15 points, followed by Mantkowski with 12.

Senior Katie Arbogast played her last game as a Hoban Knight, contributing 9 points.

Junior Erin Orsini was saddened by the outcome of the game and by the end of an exciting 16-6 season.

"It was disappointing to see Copley make it to the final four," Orsini said. "That could have been us."

Copley moves on in its quest for the state championship. The Indians played Revere March 4 for the district title and won 44-40. They went on to defeat Sandusky Perkins 44-43 March 10 for the regional title.
