The boys bowling team and two individual girls competed in the regionals last weekend.

The boys finished fifth and advance to state March 11-12 in Chillicothe. Prior to regionals, the Knights won the sectional tournament, then finished sixth in districts.

The girls finished third at sectionals. Although the team failed to advance, junior Lauren Yanko and sophomore Megan Allen qualified as individuals to compete at the regional level. Yanko's three-game series of 471 and Allen's 437 at regionals Sunday were not high enough to advance.

Yanko was disappointed her teammates could not join her at regionals.

"I thought this was our year," she said. "But we still played well, and I am happy that Megan and I have the chance to represent Hoban at regionals this year."

Senior Mike Voellmecke said the boys team hopes to win the state competition.

"For the past three years, Hoban has not made it out of districts," he said. "So we were looking to do well, since we have struggled there in the past."
