With steal expert Larry Hughes, 3-point threat Damon Jones and power forward Donyell Marshall coming to Cleveland through off-season acquisitions, the improved Cavaliers are hoping to make a title run in the 2005-06 NBA season. The three will join returning Cavaliers LeBron James, Zydrunas Illgauskas, Drew Gooden and Eric Snow.

"Take a team that won 42 games with zero long-range shooting. Add two of the league's top bombers and, for good measure, replace Ira Newble with Larry Hughes. Jackpot!" ESPN insider John Hollinger said.

Experts like Hollinger think the Cavaliers have high playoff potential with the talent that general manager Danny Ferry has brought in.

Junior Anthony Congeni agrees.

"The Cavs have a good chance at the title this year," he said. "They looked great in the season opener and the defensive pressure has greatly improved."

In that opener, the Cavs, led by James, defeated the New Orleans Hornets 109-87. James led the way with 31 points on 6-of-7 from 3-point range.

The future of the Cavs lies in the performance of James, a possible MVP candidate, and the leadership of the veterans that were brought in.
