Good news for fans of the popular animated television show The Simpsons. The dysfunctional family will be the subject of a video game, produced by American game maker Electronic Arts.

"This is something EA has been interested in for years," EA vice president Nick Earl said on ninemsn.com. "Now game development and technology is at a place where The Simpsons characters and world will really come alive in these games."

Though the concept of a Simpsons-based video game may seem interesting to producers, many students don't seem to be overly enthusiastic about the idea.

"Wait, it's a video game," junior Blake Zedar said with a laugh. "A Simpsons video game? I don't see that going anywhere."

However, game producers are expecting big things over time out of a possible continued series of games based on The Simpsons. EA is hoping it will be able to put out a series of games based on the show, much like the popular series of James Bond games.

Some students are still skeptical about the game being a success.

"I think its going to be a flop," junior Anthony Austin said. "How could a game about a TV show be fun at all?"

Some students are a bit more undecided on the topic.

"I don't really watch the show anyway," junior Eddie Byers said. "I think it will probably end up being a waste of that company's time."
