One familiar administrator is moving Down Under and another is returning to Hoban. Associate principal Jayme Loudin left Hoban March 12 to move to Sydney to marry her Australian fiance. Occupying her office is a different, yet familiar face. Loudin's former coworker, Chuck McDermott, has come out of retirement to fill the position.

Loudin, who worked at Hoban for 12 years, began her Hoban teaching career in the history department. She then moved to her specialty, math. She didn't stop there; in 2001 she became associate principal. She has spent the last three years keeping order throughout Hoban, as well as supervising grades, report cards, scheduling and many standardized tests. Thank you, Mrs. Loudin, for everything you've done.

McDermott planned to go into semiretirement before he accepted the position of associate principal in 1991. He began his educational career in 1959, when he was a sixth-grade teacher in the Tallmadge City school district. From 1968 until 1991 he was in administrative work at the elementary and junior high levels. He was a principal at Sill Junior High/Middle School from 1980 to 1991. He spent 11 years at Hoban before retiring in 2002.

However, McDermott couldn't stand to see Hoban in a pinch and not do anything. He missed all of the interaction with the students. Therefore, he will serve as associate principal until a suitable replacement can be found to fill the position next year.
