Girl golfers doing well, having a good time

Despite the fact that the varsity girls golf team has no returning seniors, the Knights are continuing to impress competition.

Juniors Courtney Chlebina, Danielle Didado, Sarah Krajewski and Sydney Lakos are leading the drive toward another great season, undeterred by the absence of senior players.

"We've done all right so far, and we're having a lot of fun," Lakos said. "Coach [John Kabasky] tells us that we are the best-looking team, so it's all good."

Although the current record of 13-10 is far from the undefeated 2005 season, Krajewski is optimistic.

"We've won about as many as we've lost right now," she said. "We're really not doing as well as we could be doing, but we are definitely improving."

Hoban played at the Tri-County Postseason Tournament at Pleasant View Golf Club Monday, but results were unavailable at press time. With the season drawing to a close, Kabasky is impressed with the way the girls have performed.

"The loss of three players hurt our performance, and this season was somewhat of a down year," Kabasky said. "I'm just pleased that everyone will be returning next fall."

An undefeated season is difficult to follow up for any team. Despite this, the girls are working hard to make this year another good one and enjoying themselves while they do it.
