Despite the disappointing name, Disturbia manages to bring humor, suspense and even some horror to the big screen.

Reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window, Kale Brecht (Shia LaBeouf) is confined to his house by a court-ordered ankle bracelet after punching his Spanish teacher. Deprived of his X-box, iPod and television by his irate, recently widowed, mother, Kale begins to watch his neighbors.

His new neighbor, Ashley (Sarah Roemer) catches his attention when Kale realizes that he can see her pool from his house. Bored, Kale also focuses on another neighbor, Mr. Turner (David Morse), who brings home a different woman every night.

One night, Kale isn't sure the woman made it out of the house alive. Before long Kale is convinced that Turner is a serial killer. Kale and Ashley watch Turner, even following him while he's out and breaking into his garage.

The audience is constantly wondering whether Turner is really a serial killer, or if Kale simply has an overactive imagination.

Kale is thrust into a tough situation when Turner shows up in his kitchen one morning. As it turns out, Turner was helping Kale's mom, then asks her out on a date. This doesn't convince Kale that Turner is innocent. In fact, Kale increases the surveillance.

Finally, Kale enters Turner's house, and the real action begins. For the first time, the film keeps you on the edge of your seat. Not that the rest of the movie was bad, it wasn't. It was funny, suspenseful, full of good dialogue and followed a strong, although somewhat borrowed, story line. Disturbia is a good pick, whether you are seeking horror, mystery or even some humor.
