A group of senior boys

started what has become a tradition this year. The so-called "Morning Glories" consist of Billy Clark, Jon Sisko, Andrew Bluebond and Matt Alto.

Every Friday the Morning Glories choose a restaurant to eat breakfast, whether it is Bob Evans, IHOP or Waffle House. They usually have to leave their houses by 6 a.m. to eat breakfast and get to school on time.

The weekly custom started almost by accident.

"It began as a celebration after I got my license back after getting a ticket," Sisko said. "We liked it so much that we wanted to go every week."

What makes this tradition unique is that they invite a teacher or staff member from Hoban every week.

"As something comical, Clark and I made an invitation to Mr. [Jason] Anderson," Sisko said. "It then went from there to inviting any teacher we want."

Brother Ed Libbers has been invited to breakfast a few times.

"They feel comfortable asking various faculty members and myself to join them, and that, for me, is most complimentary and appreciated," Libbers said.

The Morning Glories don't just invite teachers.

"We have invited students as well as teachers," Clark said. "Anyone is invited if they want to wake up and join us."

The group has even chosen officers. The president is Clark, the vice president is Alto, the Nutrition Specialist is Sisko and the Director of Enrichment is Bluebond.

Even though they have to wake up so early, Sisko thinks it's a great way to start the weekend.

"After leaving the restaurant, we are all in such good moods," he said. "Hanging out with friends and teachers and having a hearty breakfast just makes everything better."

Libbers thinks this is just one more memory the group will have after they graduate.

"It will be memories like these that they carry into their adult lives as they reflect on the good times they had at Hoban," he said.
