 Erika’s Experience in Peru
                                                       By: Nyree Walker

My Interview with Erika Salas we discuss her experience in Peru and what did she learned from the experience also.

Q: What did you first think when you aboard the plane and knowing you will be away for a week?
A: OMG (Oh my god)! There’s no turning back because I will miss all my friends and family. Plus, I was going to a place that I did not know.

Q: How did you feel when you first arrived in Peru? Were you also ready to do community service?
A: I was nervous because I did not know what to expect so it was pretty awkward for me at first then I started to get used to it. I was also ready to do community service but then again scared because I did not know how the people would feel with complete strangers in their house.

Q: What was your personal experiment and do you want to go back?
A: First, I wanted to go home because I will miss my family so much and I feel a little bit uncomfortable. Then, I had the chance to hang out with my trip mates that I will basically not hang out with in school and I started to feel more comfortable being around them. Now, I did not want to leave because I will miss doing the community service and I had so much fun hanging out with the people that I met on the trip.
I will not like to go back because once again the feeling of missing my family was taking a toll on me. Also, this trip really helped me grow personally and educationally.
