Playing sports and being involved in school, something that public school children love, and in most cases home educated students only dreamed of, until now.

Recently a new bill has been passed allowing any student who is home educated to participate in sports, plays and any other sort of extra curricular activity. Some schools already allowed this, but starting January first of next year all school districts will be required to allow anyone into their programs. Yes that means you.

Home educated students are excited about this new development, and it’s a major thing that has been highly debated. Governor Ed Rendell finally was able to pass the bill.

Although there are many good points, there is always a negative side to the story. This will increase the amount of money spent by the school districts. In doing this, our school taxes could see a raise to help meet the financial burden.

Now home educated children a right to participate in things. This was only a dream a few short months ago for most.
