St. Louis offers plenty of free and inexpensive options for summer fun. -

Summer is almost here and you can practically taste the sunshine and pool water, right? Well, after all the excitement is over and you're in the middle of summer, what do you do then? Don't veg out all day in front of the TV or do the same old pool routine everyday. Get out and do something. Here are some great middle of summer ideas to keep you up and having lots of (cheap) fun.

1. Take a tour of the St. Louis Arch and take a walk around St. Louis to see the streets.

2. Plan a movie night. Pick up your favorite flick from your local Red Box (only a $1.20 per movie) and invite a few friends over. It wouldn't hurt to throw some chips and popcorn into the mix either.

3. Check out the City Museum in downtown St. Louis. Guaranteed hours of fun, climbing and air conditioning.

4. Go to the park and plan a picnic. Head out to a local park and plan a day full of tanning, petting the local animals (careful!) and, of course, playing sports.

5. Go fishing on a nearby lake. Who doesn't like to relax on a lake and sleep, I mean fish!

6. Have a s’mores night. Ask everyone to bring their favorite topping (chocolate, peanut butter, whatever floats your boat), place it on the s’more and chow down. Don't forget to make sure someone brought the marshmallows though!

7. Take a day and go bowling at your local bowling alley.

8. Visit an outdoor movie theater at night and watch your favorite movie play on the big screen.

9. Plan a water balloon fight. Who says you are too old to play with water balloons? This is the age where the water balloon fights start getting fun.

10. Spend an entire night camping outside of your house and see who can stay up the latest. First one to fall asleep, well, do what you will.

Have a great time doing all of these activities and make sure to have the summer of your lives. We wish you good luck seniors on starting your life and wish you all the happiness you could possibly have. Now get out there and start your future!
