Can you imagine a person who has absolutely no experience in profit¬–making walking up to a huge company, heading straight to the manager and saying, “I have no experience in this field, but I think I’m the person who can get you money!”

First of all, I can’t imagine this, but if it did happen then I would guess that the manager would laugh in this person’s face. Second, I don’t think many people would be brave enough to attempt to get a job that they have no clue about.

Like most jobs in this country a person needs some experience and the more, the better. So wouldn’t it just look a lot better if on that résumé a person had experience starting up a business from scratch? I think so.

There are laws that say students can’t make their own profits on campus. I understand that, but I also believe that determined students should somehow be encouraged. The experience will help students prepare for the future. It will give them a chance to manage their own businesses and more than likely a person will gain responsibility from working their job.

Although students have the opportunity to be a part of the Business Club, how much experience in entrepreneurship can a person get out of selling fashion show tickets? Not to disparage the efforts of the Business Club, but they could possibly do a lot more to prepare members for the future. Maybe they could make business cards for individuals and sell them for a profit. Ideas like this can be thought of by anybody who has the ability and drive to pursue them.

And maybe some students don’t particularly want to be in the Business Club because they want to make their own cash. But you see there are rules against that and students are limited. Maybe some students are selling candy on campus because they want to make money to pay for college or some extra money to spend on the weekends.

How can a school limit students from preparing themselves for the business world? The whole point in going to school is to learn and use what skills you gain to succeed in life after graduation. Gaining the experience now will play an important factor in the future.
