Athletic excellence is something that Farmers pride themselves on, and the girls swim team is no exception to the excellence. This year the swim team has 28 girls, with seven new freshmen to add to the team. The girls have already had four meets with good success, beating Valor Christian at their first meet and also beating Golden on Dec. 10. The team is enjoying the many progresses it has made and hopes to continue their steady success.
Junior Amanda Getzelman says, “The team is looking really good this year and we continue to get stronger.” The optimism of the team is very apparent and it is showing off when the girls hit the pool with the scores they have gotten so far.
The team has been to a few meets where they did not place, but they are not letting that hold them back. They want to persevere, learn from the meets that were not successful and get better as the season progresses.
With the upsets also come the triumphs. The girls took second in a league-wide competition two weeks ago, and they are now setting their eyes on the state championships.
Getzelman says, “I’m excited to see the team achieve the goals we have all set for ourselves and to watch more of us make it to state this year.” The girls are looking the best they ever have. You can see them compete on Dec. 17 at Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center. Best of luck to you girls!
