Marne Davis Kellogg recently visited our school with her most recent book Perfect. She is currently working on a series of books called The Adventures of Kick Keswick. Kick Keswick is the main character in all these books which revolve around the theme of jewel thievery. Kick is the world’s greatest jewel thief and a master of disguise. She was born in America and went to England at the age of 18. Kick is also a gourmet cook and a wine connoisseur. “She is based on the single successful woman”, says Mrs. Kellogg.

I had the privilage to interview Mrs. Kellogg during her visit to our school. I asked her to give our young writters advice. She said, "Just keep on writing and telling stories, take risks, let your imagination jump and most importantly live an involved and engaged life"! She also mentioned that the publishing process is most difficult. However, once you get an agent everything runs smoothly.

Over spring break I was lucky enough to pick up a copy of Brilliant from our school library. Brilliant is the first book in the Kick Keswick series. This book introduces you to the world of auction houses and thievery. I found this book to be action filled and worldly. One can easily tell that the author has lived an involved and engaging life.

Brilliant is a multifaceted book with many different kinds of stories. The main character goes through depression, denial, has a streak of luck, falls in love, is in great danger, and through it all remains very knowledgeable. This book can take you from your chair to the site of a bombing with the turn of a page.
