He has worked in two schools, he has won several medals, and he has used a gun. A perfect candidate for our new Assistant Principal.
Mr. Kilo Mack served in the western theatre of the Iraqi war.
“I was a captain during [the war in Iraq],” Mr. Mack said, “I provided direct logistic support to over 800 men and women during the war, and indirectly for the branches of military. Plus I managed billions of dollars in government money.”
Not only did he accomplish these jobs well, but he also was awarded several medals for his service.
“I’ve won the army achievement medal, the army commendation medal, the medal for the Iraqi campaign, one for fighting global war terrorism, and the bronze star,” Mr. Mack said.
Each medal highlights his service in Iraq and fighting terrorism. The medals are given to an individual who preformed acts of heroism and valor.
Aside from his war service, he also served 10 years as a school worker. He taught at Lake Clifton and Joppatowne High Schools, and was an assistant principal at Fallston and Edgewood Middle Schools.
“I came [to EHS] around mid-year,” Mr. Mack said. “I’ve come to know the culture and I enjoy interacting with the students, supporting their visions and goals.”
He’s also pleased with the staff.
“I enjoy working with the faculty, they’ve been instrumental,” Mr. Mack said, “and the principal is magnificent.”
But most of all, his praise goes to the students.
“[Edgewood] students have a great sense of pride.”
And not only is he recognizing our potentials, we are also seeing his potential as our new administrator.
“He’s helped me with getting an idea on where to look and go for a college,” Mark Keifer, junior, said.
“He gave me seven dollars for new sunglasses when mine got taken away,” Dominique Bozier, senior, said.
The faculty as well are enjoying this welcome edition to the staff.
“He has a lot of wonderful ideas on the community and EHS working together,” Mr. Ford said.
“He’s been a nice and welcome addition to the faculty, and he’s very interested in student achievement and success,” Principal Schmitz said.
