Enter into the world of gorgeous people where gossip is uncontrollable and everything is fabulous. You are transported to the Upper East Side of Manhattan, where the series Gossip Girl by Cecily Von Ziegesar takes place.
In these series of books there are many conflicts that each character is faced with. I feel that I can almost jump into their lives through the drama and the emotional rollercoaster.
The richest, prettiest, and most popular girl in school is named Serena van der Woodsen. Serena’s best friend, Blair Waldorf, has many problems in her life: her mom is having a baby, her dad is gay and she constantly dreams of a perfect life based on Audrey Hepburn movies. When Blair has to go in for an interview for Yale, she completely messes it up, but gets accepted anyway. Don’t you wish that could happen to us?
The last book, called Nothing Can Keep Us Together, explains how their graduations went and what each character had done for their summer break before going to a new school in the fall. By then, everyone is going in different directions.
Although these books are extremely addicting, I feel that Ziegesar needs to be clearer on which characters are for which chapters. Sometimes when reading the books I get confused about what is going on because the new chapter is from the point of view of a different character than the chapter before.
What I like most about these series is the way in which Ziegesar explains what is going on from an e-mail and shows each character’s own perspective.
Ziegesar makes the reader wonder who Gossip Girl (the narrator) really is. This unknown narrator gives advice on their topics of their life, like how to survive senioritis from Nothing Can Keep Us Together.
Some of the other names from the A Gossip Girl Novel series are Gossip Girl, You Know You Love Me, Because I’m Worth It and many more. Hope you get hooked on this series.
