The exciting soccer game on Jan. 17 between the students and the staff ended in a tie.
The score was 2-2. Girls’ soccer coach Elsy Villafranca and drama teacher Shaun Klaseus each scored. The best part of the game for Davis was “Mr.Klaseus’ ridiculously phenomenal goal.”
For the students, 9th graders Santiago Rincon and Raul Quintana scored the goals. Something Villafranca would do differently is “not slide tackle someone near our goal.”
Amid controversy about that call, Villafranca, positive it was a bad one, affirmed her position.
“For the record, I did not touch him,” Villafranca said.
Davis said,” I really thought the teachers were going to get run over, but I loved our savvy veteran play.”
Sophomore Moises Gonzales said students should have won.
Yet despite the seemingly unsatisfying score, the game was pure joy for some. Sophomore Rosaura Martinez said she was just happy to have gotten to play with the teachers.
