The fishtail braid is a very fun and extremely easy way to do your hair. The fishtail can be a good style for sports, or just for a day when you want to get your hair out of the way. The fishtail braid looks very complicated, but it is very easy to learn and doesn’t take much time at all.
Step 1: Brush your hair to make sure there are absolutely no knots, if there are knots it will be difficult to separate the hair. Fishtails get frizzy, so use a de-frizzing product.
Step 2: If you are doing your own hair, it will be easier if you pull your hair over to do the fishtail to the side. Once you learn how to do the fishtail, it will be easier to do down the middle. Part your hair on the top of your head to the way you like it.
Step 3: Once your hair is in the position you want to braid the hair, you can either separate the hair into two, or wait to separate the hair. To start the fishtail braid, you take the two outer pieces of your hair and cross the over the top of your hair. After this, you take a piece from the opposite side of the strand that went on the top, and you bring that over the hair. After you get a quarter of the way down, separate the hair in half, this makes it easier to keep track of which side you pull the hair from, it also helps to keep the hairs from getting tangled together.
Step 4: Once you have reached as far down as you want to go with your fishtail tie it with either a small clear elastic, or just a regular hair tie. I would recommend using the clear elastic over a hair tie, but this is just based upon my own opinion.
Step 5: Again, fishtails get frizzy very quickly after you finish, so I highly recommend using a de-frizzing product after you are done. I also recommend using hairspray, but you don’t have to use hairspray because the de-frizzing product usually does the job. Using hairspray after depends on how frizzy you hair normally gets.
I hope this helped if you were having trouble with figuring out how to do the fishtail braid! And I hope you like it.
