MEADE — The Kansas Association for Youth board members traveled to Meade for a KAY Conference on Nov. 3.

The students that went to the KAY Conference were  Dakota Foos, Britny Pfannenstiel,  Kim Martin, Kate Hagans, Katie Showalter, Katie Bretton, and Ashley Stull, and sponsor Debbie Hagans.

Foos said that they listened to a speaker who spoke about leadership.

Foos said that they went to different places to listen to other speakers based on the color of nametags they were wearing.

Bretton said she learned many ideas for KAY, and it was cool to meet new people.

She also said that the speakers talked about how anyone can be a better KAY leader.

The KAY Conference was for the board members only.

Debbie Hagans said that everyone went where they were suppose to go, and they listened to different speakers.

All of the Area 5 presidents presented a poster showing what their school had done for Cans for Critters!

Pfannenstiel presented the Western Plains poster, which showed the can drive the KAY club put on.

The main speech was during the Love Laugh and Lift session, followed by the smaller sessions.

Each school voted for a new Area 5 president from five possible candidates.

Tatum Hansen, Meade, was elected the new president.
