Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been arrested, however it was
not because of his immoral acts of leaking United States confidential
government papers.
Assange founded the controversial website in 2006. It is claimed to
have more than 1.2 million documents.
I think that open government would be beneficial, but what good does
leaking information about unchangable events do?
He doesn’t have any place interfering with our government considering
he is an Australian citizen. This also means he can not be tried for
treason by the U.S. because he is not going against his own state.
I understand that people want to know what our government is doing,
but there is no sense in releasing these documents just to upset people.
Also, Assange’s supporters are hacking websites who don’t support
him. He is causing a lot of unnecessary corruption within a country he
is not even a part of.
I don’t understand why anyone would support this guy. First of all he
is currently facing sexual assault charges, which he turned himself in
for. That automatically makes me disgusted by him.
What I think is even worse is that he is endangering the lives of
people who are defending this country whom he is not even a citizen of.
Why is anyone supporting someone who is preventing our troops from
doing their job?
Sure, he did reveal some shady things that the government has done,
but why would we just lay down and let people push us around after what
they did on Sept. 11, 2001.
Some things the government does may be better for us not to know
because if we were qualified to make those kinds of decisions, we would
be in DC right now.
I think that Assange is definitley not the master mind behind
Wikileaks. He is known for his previous work as an internet activist and
a hacker, but I don’t understand why we would have such important
documents allowable to be hacked.
I think there is someone more powerful behind Wikileaks that is most
likely working for our government, and if this person is ever caught,
well it won’t be pretty for him.
I think Assange should let everyone know who his “sources” are
because if he can reveal such important things about our country, then
he should be able to say who the people were that gave him the
information.
I feel that the government should take some responsibility because if
there isn’t someone in the government attaining these documents, then
they need to get better security.
