Wikileaks should expose its sources of leaked documents
Advertising

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been arrested, however it was not because of his immoral acts of leaking United States confidential government papers.

Assange founded the controversial website in 2006. It is claimed to have more than 1.2 million documents.

I think that open government would be beneficial, but what good does leaking information about unchangable events do?

He doesn’t have any place interfering with our government considering he is an Australian citizen. This also means he can not be tried for treason by the U.S. because he is not going against his own state.

I understand that people want to know what our government is doing, but there is no sense in releasing these documents just to upset people.

Also, Assange’s supporters are hacking websites who don’t support him. He is causing a lot of unnecessary corruption within a country he is not even a part of.

I don’t understand why anyone would support this guy. First of all he is currently facing sexual assault charges, which he turned himself in for. That automatically makes me disgusted by him.

What I think is even worse is that he is endangering the lives of people who are defending this country whom he is not even a citizen of.

Why is anyone supporting someone who is preventing our troops from doing their job?

Sure, he did reveal some shady things that the government has done, but why would we just lay down and let people push us around after what they did on Sept. 11, 2001.

Some things the government does may be better for us not to know because if we were qualified to make those kinds of decisions, we would be in DC right now.

I think that Assange is definitley not the master mind behind Wikileaks. He is known for his previous work as an internet activist and a hacker, but I don’t understand why we would have such important documents allowable to be hacked.

I think there is someone more powerful behind Wikileaks that is most likely working for our government, and if this person is ever caught, well it won’t be pretty for him.

I think Assange should let everyone know who his “sources” are because if he can reveal such important things about our country, then he should be able to say who the people were that gave him the information.

I feel that the government should take some responsibility because if there isn’t someone in the government attaining these documents, then they need to get better security.

If you're wondering how I picked up on this blog I found it here..... http://newsblogged.com/wikileaks-latest-news-real-time-updates See how stuff gets picked up? An interesting lesson in modern media methinks. You can be certain that this blog and my comments have already been read and noted by your government security service and that now there'll be another "secret file" with your name on it but it's ok.... If you've nothing to hide, you've nothing to worry about have you? ;-) Phil

Did you do any actual research for this blog? A lot of your facts are just plain wrong and if you're opinions are based on those facts then I think you'll find that needs modifying too. Also, by even mentioning wikileaks you've probably ruined your future career! Phil

It's clear that your education has failed you. You need to exercise your independence of thought. Look up those famous journalists, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. Do you think they should have revealed their sources? Would the president's criminal activity have been revealed if they had followed your advice? Lots of people called them immoral, too. You might widen you horizons by learning about Samuel Johnson (from just before the Declaration of Independence) who gave us this gem: "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel." and finally, you will find a model of clear thinking, analysis and effective research if yo turn your attention towards the work of Noam Chomsky at the Massachusets Institute of Technology http://web.mit.edu/linguistics/people/faculty/chomsky/index.html

Your facts are wrong. Your writing is terrible. Overall this editorial lacked common sense, on both ends of the spectrum. When choosing the correct way to go about writing this, you were completely dumbfounded by the thought of being even slightly journalistic. Please refrain from further subjecting the world to your ignorant views and horrible writing "style".

Can you name someone who has actually been in danger. And are you from the U.S? How does a person become guilty of a crime because he is accused? That makes me sick
