Imagine yourself coming to an alien culture different from yours, seeing people different from you.

But for many foreign exchange students, this is the experience they want.

A small town doesn't offer a lot of activities but its ok with these students.

Sophomore Sophie Eder said “my stay here in Corbin is great. It’s nice to be in this small town. And to meet all of its people.”

Eder is from Berlin, Germany. Having completely changed from one extreme to another, she likes the small town.

Senior Anita Telecka is from Poland. She said “my stay at Corbin is great. I like my host family and new friends I have met.”

Junior Carina Horsten said “lunch is the greatest experience of American high school. I like to meet and talk to others.”

Horsten also said “that football players and rednecks were interesting to meet. The rednecks were a bad thing, but the football players were nice to meet.” Horsten is also from Germany, the town of Düsseldorf.

Senior Jonas Maesei is from Paderborn, Germany. Maesei said “I like the American culture. I like every aspect of it especially the easy living.”

Foreign exchange students find it a relaxing stay when schooling in America. Eder said “school here is so much easier than back home. I have more courses at home I must take compared to Corbin.”

Several foreign students were overwhelmed about how small Corbin was. Horsten said “we came to New York for an orientation. It was so big. Then we come to Corbin to something so small.”

Eder said “I just wish there were more things to do other than watch movies and go to sporting events.”

All the exchange students wish to come back. Maesei said “Of course I will come back, maybe after college, or maybe even next year to visit my host family again."

Corbin is becoming more diverse every day and the foreign exchange students help add a new flavor to our society.
