From August to October, they’ve been together every day. They are Carlisle’s field hockey team, and they’ve become a family that will find difficulty separating as their season ends.
October 12th’s game against Chambersburg was their “Senior Night,” which celebrated the love for the team’s nine seniors. However, this love came amid sadness.
“We’ll really miss the seniors next year,” sophomore Faith Reisinger said. Reisinger is sad to see their seniors, and a majority of their starting lineup go, but believes they can “pull it off” next year.
“We really clicked and bonded as a team,” said junior Alyssa Rowe.
The girls formed their strong bond with a hike, a car wash a paint war, and countless pasta parties. These get-togethers, and the memories that came with them, made the team nearly inseparable.
Throughout their season, “Herd Hockey” won ten games, tied one game, and lost seven games. October 15th’s game was crucial for the girls because it decided their qualification for playoffs. After winning the game 4-0, the team headed to the Mid Penn Tournament.
“It was pretty exciting to make it so far,” said senior Bethany Hench, “all the seniors are especially stoked.” She also commented, “We had a really great group of girls this year.” Hench believes everyone was thrilled with the elongated season.
Sophomore Ana Padilla agrees with Hench. Padilla said, “I think we had a very good season; it was so much fun and it’s sad to see it go.”
