Upper Perk senior Amanda Ulmer was recently awarded Regional Leo of the Year, competing against five schools within the 14R Leos district.

To be considered for the Leo of the Year award, a Leo must clearly demonstrate leadership skills, service, contribution, distinction, and integrity. Amanda was considered by judges to exemplify these characteristics.

According to Leos Club Advisor Mrs. Tasha Robson, Amanda clearly demonstrated these characteristics.

She was dedicated to helping her community, showed initiative, was organized, highly involved, and demonstrated strong leadership skills.

The Leos of the Year award was presented to Amanda at the Leos induction ceremony by district governor Brian Hamilton and past district governor Donna Law. Mrs. Robson, Lion’s Leo Liaison Henry Whittaker, past district governor John Carver and Leo Club secretary

Andrea Weeks also took part in the ceremony.

The Leos Club at Upper Perkiomen has had previous winners like Jaclyn Schrauger who also won the State Leo of the Year award.

Ulmer downplayed the importance of the award and her strong characteristics, stating, “The award was nothing.”

But it really was something.
