Just before the season began, the winter track team found someone willing to assume the title of head coach.
Mr. Danny Wright, a Pennsylvania state trooper, took on the role as the new winter track head coach. Previously he had gained much experience coaching the winter track team at Methacton.
When Methacton joined the Pac-10 and their boy’s and girl’s teams became one single team, Wright lost his job.
So far the new coach has done an excellent job. He intends on improving Upper Perk’s standings in the Pac-10 and generating many more wins.
“The kids are working hard and having fun doing it,” said Mr. Wright.
This winter’s harsh weather has been one of the only major challenges of the season.
The team’s trip to New York for one of their most important races was postponed due to a snow storm. The event, supposed to take place in late December, was moved to January 7th.
At this race, the team faced some of the best runners in the country. The new coach was pleased with his team’s results.
“To make Upper Perk a good program you have to go to the big meets,” stated Wright.
