“High school is the best time of your life, just wait you’ll see.” My dad always told me that, but I of course never believed him. I hated getting up in the morning, I hated spending seven hours in school, I hated the monotony of it all. How could that possibly be the best time of my life? And if it was, I really wasn’t looking forward to the rest of it.
Day in and day out I slowly began to realize what my dad had been talking about. I was forced to get a job the summer of my sophomore year, and I absolutely hated it.
Needless to say, it didn’t last very long.
School started, I quit the job in November, and I really started to understand that “high school is the best time of your life.” I didn’t want to waste it working. Now, some people would probably consider that to be lazy, but I think it’s safe to say school pretty much is a full time job.
Looking back, I put a lot of time and effort into school and for the most part I’m really glad with how it all turned out. I earned all of my varsity letters, I stayed up for countless hours writing papers that were due the next day, and I’ve certainly crammed an hour before a chapter test.
I’m going to college in the fall, so in a sense I guess everything I’ve done has paid off.
It’s really hard to sum up four years of your life, especially the ones that have changed everyone as much as these; but Senior Audrey Miller seemed to be able to do it, “Well let’s see… Yeah I really don’t remember them,” she said laughingly.
Congratulations class of 2009.
