Mr. McKnight. - Danya Webb '09

The new, young science teacher, Mr. Peter McKnight, can be found in room 202 teaching energy, matter, and motion, or environmental science.
Mr. McKnight graduated from Kutztown University where he majored in secondary education, earth and space science.
He knew he wanted to become a school teacher while he was a flight instructor at Gateway Aviation in Allentown. “I liked introducing the students to things, while finding innovative ways to teach them.”
Although Mr. McKnight was a substitute teacher at his high school, Whitehall, this is his first year being an official teacher. After interviewing at many schools, he decided he wanted to teach at Upper Perkiomen High School. “I wanted to teach in a school district that was moving forward, progressing.”
Along with wanting to be a part of a progressive district, Mr. McKnight enjoys the calmer environment the valley provides. He claims that Upper Perk is not nearly as crowded as Whitehall, and the traffic at his current house, just outside of Whitehall, is worse.
He feels that since he has been here, the faculty he works with has been extremely helpful.
When not teaching, Mr. McKnight enjoys playing with his three sons, William, Petey, and Ethan. Although most of his college was concentrated on his major, he was involved in Geology Club, and in high school he played ice hockey and ran cross country. He was also involved in yearbook and snowboard/ski club.
