There are many talents that the students of the Upper Perkiomen High School possess, and they are shown in the murals painted throughout the valley.
In the town of East Greenville one of the beautiful murals painted by the art students of the High School can be found. On the side of Secret Spot an underwater scene was painted in June 2006, in memory of Ron Zimmerman, after his life was taken in a motorcycle accident. The scene includes an array of tropical fish, a shark, and many different kinds of coral and seaweed.
The second mural to be found in the valley located in the town of Pennsburg. On the wall at the front of the building of the Professional Pharmacy is a mural that represents the history of the Upper Perkiomen Valley, which was painted by a group of students for their senior project. From left to right displays the history of the valley throughout time. On the left it begins with the early settlers, continues to the development of the town, and ends in the modern day valley.
Displaying artwork throughout the valley is very important because it shows the hard work that students do in and out of the classroom, and shows that the art department looks for ways to improve the community, making the valley a more beautiful place to live.
To continue the improvements, if any company of business is interested in the having the art department painting a scene for them, please contact Amy Lychock at (215) 679-5935 x7310.
