The Law girls swimming season is underway and the team is hoping to be better than years past.

If they are going to improve their reputation for swimming, all of the girls have to contribute a big part in trying to win.

“Bonding time and practicing harder should improve the team and people as individuals,” senior captain Maggie S said.

The swim team is looking to bounce back from a mediocre season last year, from which they lost several swimmers including Lindell Carlberg due to graduation.

This year’s team, however, looks to be much improved and will be led by junior Alex W, who is motivated to bring the Lady Lawmen to a new level.

With an increase in participation this year, the team is expecting to have a decent season. They will need to fight through a hard schedule, including meets with Shelton, Sacred Heart, and Hamden.

The Lady Lawmen started off the season ready to go. The girls are really looking forward to their meet on October 22, when they face off against cross town rival Foran.

The team’s top swimmers and possible candidates for states this year will be Maggie S, another senior captain Shayna S and junior Jennie S.

“I plan on beating my time in the 100m and the 50m but I need to stay focused and keep practicing at 110%,” Maggie S said.

Shayna S, Maggie S, and Shannon M are the three captains for Law and all three started varsity last year.

They are hoping to continue doing well and have good leadership like last years captains.

The swimming coach, Miss. Paolini, knows how much and how hard to have the girls practice considering she has been the Law Swimming coach for five years now.

Law has already played a few hard teams such as Hamden, Shelton, and North Haven.

Now Paolini is looking forward to her next few games which are also hard versus Mercy, Sacred Heart, and West Haven.

The students from law should come more often to the swim meets and support their fellow girls to cheer them on.

This can help them and give the girls more motivation to be victorious.
