The annual art show in Parsons Complex was held on May 6th, 2008.

The evening event started at 7:00 p.m. with many students, teachers, and families of Milford that came to see the unique displays of art. Some of the art was designed by Law students.

“My piece was a 2-point dimension perspective sketch of buildings. I was really honored and happy that my art was worthy of the art show,” said junior Michelle B. “In my opinion the best piece of art was Amanda S.’s.”

Since there was no theme to the art show and various pieces were selected, no prizes were awarded – except for a prestigious fact that the student’s art piece was chosen to be displayed at the art show. About 100 students each from Jonathan Law High School and Foran High School were picked by teachers to have their art seen at the art show.

“I attended the art show on the evening event and it was amazing to see all of the different pieces,” said junior Amy C. “It’s great to see how many people can come together just through art. A lot of the pieces had the same general feeling, but were still original in their own way.”

The art show featured many different art genres within itself that students submitted in. Some of them being: abstract art, cartooning, sculptures, painting, and some drawings.

“It was amazing to see all of the artists and all of the effort that they put in their drawings,” said junior Amanda L. “But, I still like Amanda S.’s art the most.”

Many students ended up having more than one art piece submitted, depending on how well the artwork was created.

“I had three different types of art pieces. The first was a scratch-board replica of ‘The Great Wave,’ by the Japanese painter Hokusai. The second piece was a poster of a band that I had created. The final and third piece was a painting of the word ‘Japan’ that was painted with intricate details in the letters and had a “whooshy” background,” Amanda S. said. “I was honored and pleased at how much my friends liked my work, and I beat my personal record of how many pieces I had in the show.”

The art show was presented for a whole month, various people came from different places to view it. They gave the show positive feedback as usual.
