Two new English teachers joined the staff at Jonathan Law in early November.

Jennifer Jerolmon and Heather Carney were hired to replace the departed Ms. Rivera and to alleviate some large class sizes in English.

Ms. Jerolmon went to Laurelton Hall High School and attended The University of Connecticut for her bachelor’s degree, graduating in 2004. She taught several classes and received her master’s from Southern Connecticut State University in spring 2006 and became a student teacher for Mrs. Fisher at West Shore Middle School.

“I’ve enjoyed working with the staff and students at Law,” said Ms. Jerolmon

Ms. Carney attended West Haven High School, and went to Southern Connecticut State University, graduating in December 2002. She was a student teacher at Fairfield High School, and taught for two years at Woodbridge’s Nonewaug High, an agricultural magnet school. In between, she was a substitute teacher in the New Haven school district. So far, she is enjoying her time at Law

“Law has a great atmosphere, and the staff has been really helpful” said Ms. Carney

Ms. Jerolmon teaches yearbook, expository writing, language and literature, and tutors three periods a day. Ms. Carney currently teaches English for sophomores and juniors, and the craft of writing for seniors.

“It is very refreshing to have a new teacher,” said junior Chelsea S., one of Ms. Jerolmon’s Language and Literature students.

Students are excited to have these two new teachers and look forward to the learning from them.

“It is really nice to have a real teacher instead of substitutes all the time,” said junior Brandon M., a student in Ms. Carney’s junior English class.

Teachers as well as students are pleased to have these additions to the English Department.

“They are a welcome addition to the department,” said English Department Head Donna Pallanti.

Not only are they a welcome addition to the department, but these two new staff members are a welcome addition to Jonathan Law.
