After winning three out of the last six Super Bowls, it is apparent that the Patriots are one of the best teams in the NFL. However, with those Super Bowl titles comes expectations.

It seems as though if the Patriots don’t make it to the Super Bowl, then it’s dubbed as a disappointing season by New England fans. No one can predict the outcome of this year’s up and coming season, however, if the off season is any indication, then New England is on the road to another Super Bowl.

New England has made many key acquisitions in this year’s off-season. The most noticeable new face joining the Patriots locker room is the immensely talented wide receiver, Randy Moss. Moss was traded to the Patriots from the Raiders for just a fourth round draft pick. Moss was disgruntled for most of his two seasons in Oakland, and said frequently last season that he thought he’d be better off with another team. Some feel as though Randy will be a locker room problem for the ridged Patriots organization. However, Moss feels as though New England is the perfect fit for him. “I’m still overwhelmed and, at the same time, kind of star-struck that I’m part of this New England Patriots organization.” Moss even took a reduced salary to play for New England. Last seasons Patriots roster lacked a lot of talent at the wide receiver position. It seems as though owner Bob Craft almost gave Tom Brady a gift this year signing Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth, Kelley Washington, and Wes Welker at receiver.

The Patriots not only upgraded their offense, but they gave their defense a great boost also. New England recently drafted safety Brandon Merriweather from the University of Miami to fill a gapping hole in the secondary. Merriweather, a top 10 talent, slipped to number 24 in the draft due to disciplinary problems at Miami. New England is a team that traditionally steers clear from disciplinary issues, yet has surprised everyone this off season acquiring two of them. The Patriots also picked up line backer, Adalius Thomas from the Ravens who should bring a lot of support to an aging New England linebacking core.

High expectations have followed the Patriots since their first Super Bowl victory in 2001. If you look at New England’s successful season last year, and factor in their new accusations, it seems as though this roster has the recipe for greatness. Now we must wait and see if all of New England’s off season efforts will translate into another Super Bowl victory.
