At-a-glance

A view of the changing skylights before, midway and after as changes and repairs take place on the school's roof. -

Construction and repairs on the roof have been underway for the past month, and the results have been new skylights in the hallways and library and hopefully a roof that won't leak in the wetter seasons of the year.

Tony Grant, who is over the whole constuction process, said that the construction should only take about a month.

It was decided to change the skylights when an architect looked at the roof and saw that it leaked and that the skylights generated a lot of heat, ecspecially in the library.

Along with the skylights, they are doing some new membrane roofing, a type of roofing system that is used on a flat or nearly flat roof to prevent leaks and move water off of the roof.

What they are doing to the roofs is a good thing. It not only keeps the roof from leaking in the winter and rainy months, it will help the school save money on cooling costs.

Not only is it postive for the school but the new skylights look a lot better than the old ones.
