As you walked past the auditorim this last week, there's a chance you heard the phrase "Fine then, you can starve!" Or perhaps you heard the chorus of 'Be our guest' sung by the entire drama cast and others. You may even have seen little children in salt and pepper shaker outfits, trickling pepper and salt as they tittered across our commons. All of this and more was offered by the drama class/ play cast of 'Beauty and the Beast' as they performed the show they've been practicing since the first day of school.

"A lot of hard work has gone into this production, and I think it was worth it to all who came to see it," says Suelyn Heaton, cast as Belle in half of the productions. Not only has work been put into the production by the cast, but also by the orchestra that plays throughout the entire play.

Lead by Roger Hullinger, this live orchestra is said to "really add to the atmosphere" and "complete and finalize the magic of the script". Amanda Price, a member of the orchestra says, "We've worked really hard and we really do sound awesome. This play is truly great, everything about it. And, if I'm grouchy at all, it's only bcause I'M TIRED!"

Amanda isn't alone in her feelings of sleep deprivation. When asked if she had anything to say about the production, Mrs. Dunsmore said simply, "I would just like to say that I am tired.....but the play is great."

Everyone seems to share the opinion that this play was excellent. Sydnee Dietz, a 7th grader playing a pepper shaker in the play, says that she "just can't wait to get to high school so I can really be in the play, not just sing." Jazmyn White, a beggar woman/ knife, says that "It's awesome!"

Todd Thomas paused for a long moment when asked for his personal feelings about the play. Appearing to become a little choked up, he closed his eyes and said, "I personally feel that the show is full of magic and wonderful effects." Then, flicking a tear from its perch on the edge of the bag under his eye, Mr. Thomas quickly walked towards his dressing room to change.

Chantelle Christensen, on the other hand, is just bursting at the seams with energy. Loudly humming 'I'm a little teapot' wherever she goes it's the only major side effect she had experienced from playing the role of Mrs. Potts in the play. She says, "I love this story. I believe that every girl needs a sweet and handsome beast to sing love songs to her. This is a love story that everyone should experience. All in all, it is drops of heaven and dreams come true."

This production has inspired nothing but positive remarks and love-filled sighs from all of its audiences. We, as a newspaper staff, would like to congratulate the drama department on a job very well done, and hope they are enjoyng catching up on their sleep.
