Mr. Sean McGuire, Class of 1984, will receive the 2006 Trinity Honor Alumnus Award at graduation. McGuire has always had a connection with Trinity and is being recognized for his leadership, hard work and Christian values.

Many students might know him as the freshman football coach.

For those who don’t know, McGuire is the former chair of the Alumni Board of Directors, is a Class of ’84 ambassador, and gave the “significance of the ring” address at the 1998 Junior Ring Ceremony.

He has also helped organize numerous school events—from the Sandy Newman Memorial Golf Classic to the Shamrock Bass Classic. When the Bass Classic was being discussed, McGuire eagerly proposed to the Alumni Board that the Alumni Association take over the event, even though he knew little about fishing. The Bass Classic still remains a success.

“It’s a great honor to win the award and to give back to the school, but you also have to honor the faculty and staff members that make up Trinity,” McGuire said. “What they teach at Trinity is more than academic, it’s a spirit.”

McGuire is member of Immaculate Conception Church. He served as a strategic plan consultant for one year and is a youth group leader.

His wife, Holly, is a substitute teacher at Trinity and together they raise three boys—Lance, Alec and Luke.

Mr. Travis Wagoner, director of the annual fund and alumni relations, said, “Sean is one of those truly special Trinity alumni who have their alma mater deep in their heart. He’s a loving family man who always includes Holly and their sons in everything he does at Trinity.”

McGuire said, “When you first walk in the door at Trinity, you don’t understand what it’s about; hopefully by the time you’re a senior, you walk out with the Trinity spirit and it will stick with you for the rest of your life.”
