Gandalf and the Witchking were wandering the parking lot. Multiple persons in the crowd were wearing swords.

It looked like a scene out of “The Lord of the Rings” movies, but this was just a gathering of Trinity students preparing for their annual trip to the Ohio Renaissance Festival, held Oct. 16, just before two coach buses rolled out of the school’s parking lot at 8 a.m.

Each year Mr. Michel Budniak and Ms. Debbie Sweitzer take a group of Trinity freshmen to the festival, but interest has been increasing for several years. This was the first year that Trinity needed two buses.

Not including students who carpooled or drove themselves, 102 Trinity students attended the festival. Budniak said that this was because the word had gotten out, and because of the continued interest of upperclassman.

The students attended the festival, located between Dayton and Columbus in a town called Harveysburg, for the entire day.

The fair featured jousting, music and stage performances by actors hired by the fair. They all wore the garb of 15th-century England, and at least tried to have a semblance of an accent, although some were notoriously bad at it.

Students could purchase various kinds of medieval weapons, and Trinity freshman Richard Strom said, “The best part was buying my axe.”
