Trinity’s athletic trainer, coach Bill Cubbage, was inducted into the Bellarmine University Hall of Fame. Cubbage is not a graduate of the university, but he served as an athletic trainer for the Knights from 1987 through 1997.

Cubbage was inducted for his part in Bellarmine women’s basketball’s run to the 1994 Final Four. This was the first time BU inducted an entire team into the Hall of Fame. The team ended their season with a record of 25-6, the best record in the school’s history.

In all, there were 22 members inducted who were associated with the team.

"It’s a great honor. I was very excited. It’s very nice to be recognized as a part of such an outstanding team," Cubbage said.

Cubbage has worked with some of the best athletic programs in the state.

After serving his 10 years at Bellarmine, he went on to be an assistant trainer at the University of Louisville.

After a short stint at Uof L, Cubbage got a job at Kentucky Orthopedic Rehab Team, and has maintained it to this day.

Cubbage works as athletic trainer for Trinity’s athletic teams and has done so since 2000. The spot was introduced to him while at KORT.

"Coach Cubbage is a dedicated Trinity man because he sacrifices his time to help get student-athletes back on the field as quickly as possible," said Rob Niece, a senior who participated on the Shamrocks football team for all four years.
