Trinity presented the musical “Guys and Dolls” as part of the Department of Theatre Arts celebration of the 29th season in Trinity Auditorium. Many flocked to opening night of “Guys and Dolls.” After a standing ovation, the opening performance of “Guys and Dolls” was one for the Trinity history books.

Students from other local schools helped in the production and performance of “Guys and Dolls.” They came from the Youth Performing Arts School (YPAS), Assumption High School, Sacred Heart Academy, Mercy Academy, Louisville Collegiate School, and duPont Manual High School to work with Trinity students on the production.

Senior Gabe Thelen said, “I thought the play ‘Guys and Dolls’ was fascinating. It started off quite strange and had a weird twist, but shortly turned into a interesting plot with gamblers and religious groups all within a city.”

Senior Casey Dettlinger said, “I liked the play. The spring musicals are always awesome.”

Senior Andrew Mertz, who played the part of Nathan Detroit, said, “I love being a part of ‘Guys and Dolls’; it’s a very rewarding experience. I love being on stage and making people laugh.”

Of course, students were not the only ones involved in the production. Among the adults who guided the students were Dr. William P. Bradford II (artistic director), Mr. Greg Sysol (producer and technical director), Mr. John Zehnder (musical director), Ms. Mary Ellen Fehder (costumer), Mrs. Linda Braun (choreographer) and Simmons Falk (artistic designer).

“I’m really going to miss the experience that I’ve had here,” Mertz said. “I’ve learned so much from Mr. Bradford. I feel prepared for the collegiate world and the professional world in theatre.”
